After a decade in the corporate world, I needed a creative outlet away from screens. What started as a woodworking hobby in 2020 quickly became an obsession. Today I build premium cutting boards full time.
Woodworking blends my love for precision with the raw beauty of nature. I am constantly fascinated by the living history of timber and love watching the unique grain reveal its true depth the second the oil hits it.
Growing up in the Lower Mainland, finding a dedicated shop making premium kitchen boards was surprisingly hard. I started Jin's Woodshop to give our community a trusted local source for handcrafted pieces built to be the centerpiece of your home.
Not all wood belongs in a kitchen. Big box stores often mask weak or porous woods with clever marketing. At my shop, I handpick only dense and durable hardwoods to ensure complete food safety. You will instantly feel the premium difference in the solid weight alone.
I approach board making like art but it must perform like a reliable tool. Whether you need a heavy duty workhorse or a stunning visual centerpiece, I design product lines tailored to your kitchen. I even choose specific wood species to help keep your expensive knives sharp.
Wood is a living material. To ensure absolute stability, my shop is strictly climate controlled. Every board is water popped to stay smooth after washing and then hand rubbed with pure food safe oils. Giving the oil seven full days to cure is the best way to prevent warping.
Almost every home has a cutting board, yet most are mass produced imports. Imagine the positive environmental impact if we chose to keep this essential tool local. I built Jin's Woodshop to help make that a reality. By upcycling premium wood right here in the Lower Mainland, my goal is to drastically reduce waste and global shipping. It is a sustainable alternative that honors the craft and respects our environment.
